Thank you to everyone who visited, baked, faked and generously donated towards our Macmillan Coffee Morning. It has been lovely to welcome so many people to TPG today and to raise money for such a wonderful cause. We have smashed last years total!
We have once again proudly supported our local charity the national careline by taking part in the annual 55+ Retirement Roadshow. It was a pleasure to welcome old and new customers to our stand, offering advice on mobility and home adaptations. We are pleased to announce that we now stock Biofreeze Gel in our showroom.
Biofreeze comes highly recommended by health professionals as a topical product which helps manage discomfort caused by aches, pains and joint discomfort. Simply massage onto the sore spot, the gel is non-greasy or oily, odourless and stainless. Once applied the relief lasts for up to 8 hours, the product works by cooling the affected area.
TPG DisableAids is one of the first companies in the UK to be awarded the prestigious Certificate of Excellence by Stannah. A scheme organised by Stannah to ensure that engineers follow the excellence quality standards set by themselves. Not all companies meet the requirements, however we are committed to ensuring exceptional service and that your stairlift is installed by a professional engineer. The award recognises TPG for it’s commitment towards quality engineering in installations, servicing and repairs of their product range.
As part of the process of attaining the certificate, all Stannah engineers must undergo extensive training and assessment to ensure all work meets the industry leading Stannah standards. Engineers are routinely assessed by Stannah on routine servicing, repairs and installation processes to ensure engineers are following best practices. Receiving this award acts as an endorsement for TPG engineers that they’re always professional, knowledgeable and complete the job to ‘excellence’ standards. Training includes best practices for the installation process, fault finding and servicing to ensure engineers are versed with essential skills for caring for the Stannah line of products.
Regular Assessment of Engineers:
Rather than a single assessment, to retain the integrity of the award, engineers are continually assessed to maintain the high standards that are associated with the Stannah name, assessment certifies product fluency in all Stannah models and specifically in the installation process, to ensure engineers are well versed; avoiding unwelcome surprises. At TPG we ensure we deliver excellent service when selling, distributing or servicing any of our products and we are pleased to announce that our efforts of our engineering team have been certified by the industry-leader.
Ensuring ongoing confidence, Stannah routinely visit us and audit our staff and procedures this ensures that the award retains it’s integrity and we’re always working at the same high standard that we were when attaining the award. We work together with Stannah to raise standards and ensure customers get the very best service we can deliver.
Like any other vehicle, mobility scooters need care and maintenance. One of the most important things you can do to ensure your mobility scooter is running effectively is to care for your batteries! The life of your batteries can vary enormously. A battery will have a pre-ordained cycle life but this will be affected by a number of environmental factors such as use frequency, depth of discharge, length and frequency of charge time and temperature of the environment. Experience tells us that the average life span is around two years but can be much longer or much shorter. You can extend the life of your batteries using some simple tips and making small changes to how you use them:
- Charge your new batteries fully before using them, A full overnight charge is required to ensure they don’t degrade
- Charge your batteries even when they’re not in use
- Keep them out of extreme cold and ideally inside
- If it has a removable battery pack; always keep it indoors
- Always disconnect the charger from the scooter once fully charged
- Don’t ever use the battery to complete capacity (e.g. 0% charge left) as you may damage the cell
Battery failure or decline usually contributes towards poor performance, if your scooter feels sluggish or has poor range then it may be down to the battery.
At TPG we have a comprehensive engineering team and specifically for mobility scooters we have engineers in our workshop who can test your batteries, advise what’s best for your scooter and of course repair or replace if necessary. Always remember to consult your manual or get in touch with our sales or servicing department for further advice. Our workshop engineers offer a fully computerized check to analyse how your batteries perform and how to get the best from your scooter. We can advise you on the life of your battery and how it is performing, with no obligation and always aim to prolong the life of your battery.
We’re always on the lookout for innovation at TPG, we have 2 engineers (Phil Jones and Liam Callanan) who have recently passed training and received manufacturer accreditation for an exciting new product; Thyssen Supra Linea Lift, allowing us to supply and maintain wheelchair lifts for both internal and external use. With exceptional safety features and proven reliability the Supra is an excellent addition to our product range. With a Dedicated Service Department, breakdown recovery and maintenance we can offer you piece of mind should anything go wrong.
